Lørdag 18. januar 2025

Flyet gikk fra Gardermoen klokka
0930,
og flyturen tok ca  5 1/2 time.

Om ettermiddagen var vi framme og kunne se oss om på hotellet, Riu Buenavista.
Hotellet ligger i Playa Paraiso.
Det var et veldig stort hotell.

Middag på Grillen på Riu Buenavista.
Mye mat og drikke.
Dette er et all inclusive-hotell, så
her er det bare å forsyne seg.

Strendene i Playa Paraiso

Tenerife  formerly spelled Teneriffe) is the largest and most populous island of the Canary Islands. It is home to 42.9% of the total population of the archipelago.[4] With a land area of 2,034.38 square kilometres (785.48 sq mi)
and a population of 964,021 inhabitants as of January 2024,
it is also the most populous island of Spain and of Macaronesia

The earliest known human settlement in the islands, dating to around 200 BCE, was established by Berbers known as the Guanches. However, the Cave of the Guanches in the northern municipality of Icod de los Vinos has provided the oldest chronologies of the Canary Islands, with dates around the sixth century BCE.

Tenerife was the last island of the Canaries to be conquered and the one that
took the longest time to submit to the Castilian troops. Although the traditional dates of the conquest of Tenerife are established between 1494 (landing of
Alonso Fernández de Lugo) and 1496 (the complete conquest of the island), attempts to annex the island of Tenerife to the Crown of Castiledate back at l
east to 1464.

Playa Las Galgas, a quaint and serene beach nestled away from the bustling tourist spots, offers a more intimate and peaceful beach experience. Its stony nature and small size make it an ideal choice for those residing nearby or visitors seeking a quiet retreat by the sea. The beach is particularly appealing to families, boasting a fantastic playground that caters to children aged 1-10 years, ensuring a fun and safe environment for the younger visitors.

The lack of commercial establishments such as bars, sunbeds, and toilets contributes to the beach's tranquil atmosphere, allowing the natural beauty of the surroundings to take centre stage. Playa Las Galgas is characterized by its mixture of sand and small pebbles at the water's edge, with its volcanic black sand adding to the unique charm of the place.

Playa el Pinque
Playa El Pinque is a small beach situated in the municipality of Adeje, on the
island of Tenerife, Spain. Renowned for its unique natural attributes, the beach
is distinguished by its composition of shale and stone, as opposed to the typical
sandy beaches. Despite the rocky terrain, visitors can comfortably walk on the
beach by wearing appropriate footwear such as wet shoes or sandals.

The beach's bay is sheltered, making it an attractive spot for families. However, due to its rocky nature, it may not be suitable for very young children to swim.

Instead, the beach is ideally suited for activities such as snorkeling, offering a
unique underwater experience for visitors.

While the beach's natural beauty is its main draw, cleanliness of the beach
and its surroundings may vary. Visitors are therefore urged to be mindful of
this when planning their visit.

I dag skulle vi til Gomera.
Buss til Los Christianos.
Derfra båt til San Sebastian på Gomera

La Gomera is one of Spain's Canary Islands, in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Africa. With an area of 370.03 km2 (142.87 sq mi), it is the third-smallest of
the archipelago's eight main islands. It belongs to the province of Santa Cruz
de Tenerife. La Gomera is the third least populous of the eight main Canary
Islands, with 22,361 inhabitants at the start of 2023. Its capital is San
Sebastián de La Gomera, where the cabildo insular (island council) is located.

The island is of volcanic origin and roughly circular; it is about 22 km (14 mi)
in diameter. It is very mountainous and steeply sloping and rises to 1,487 m
(4,879 ft) at its highest peak, Alto de Garajonay. Its shape is rather like an
orange that has been cut in half and then split into segments, which has left
deep ravines or barrancos between them.

Bananas, known scientifically as Musa acuminata, are believed to have originated in Southeast Asia. However, it was the Canary Islands that became their second home, introducing these tropical delights
to Europe during the 15th century. The islands’ unique microclimates, with their warm temperatures and fertile volcanic soils, proved to be
the perfect environment for cultivating bananas. This set the stage for the development of a thriving banana industry that has flourished for centuries.

The real treasure to be found in La Gomera is its dense, intense green laurel (laurbær)
forests, which crown the centre rim of the island. The laurisilva, which grew in abundance millions of years ago, are now few and far between and found in
only a few places in the world. One of these places is in the Canary Islands, and
in particular in the protected 4,000 hectare Garajonay National Park, a place
where natures continues to reign.

Jumping with a pole responds to the need for
crossing, climbing and accending the steep rocky slopes of the island in a fast and safe way. The
wooden poles are selected according to their
quality and straightness. They are about two
metres in length and have a metal tip like a lance
and are made with great care. Years ago this
technique was used by much of the population but these days only the few remaining herdsmen do it.

The main featurs og the original island wildlife was the lack of mammals. Species introduced by man, such as the rabbit and
the rat, have prolierated due to the lack of natural predators and have become a
plague to both the islands.

The Great Lagoon is different from all
the others in Garajonay National Park,
as it is an endorheic lagoon that does not
allow trees to grow inside it. For this
reason, it has always lent itself to all
kinds of stories, although if you ask the
people of Gomera about it, they always
keep silent and soon reveal the respect
they have for it. Located in the heart of
the park, fourteen stones form a perfect
circle in which another block marks its center. It is the only clearing in this
forest from the Tertiary Era and
legend has it that the most important
witches of La Gomera used to meet there.

itself as being the „Isla Columbiana“ and
islanders tell of how America was

Cristobal Colon (Christopher Columbus)
departed on his journey of discovery, in the
name of the Spanish Crown.

On the 12.08.1492, his fleet stopped off the
coast of La Gomera to restock with provisions
and water one final time before crossing the
Atlantic. many locals, at least that is told today,
were hired as sailors for his fleet and bravely

Masca is  Tenerife's most beautiful village set in a superb mountaineous location. Masca is a village
set in the Teno Mountains on the western side of Tenerife. Its location is stunning and because it is
quite difficult to get to on a road full of tight
hairpin bends it has been relatively undiscovered
until recent years. Indeed there wasn't a road at
all before 1991 and led to Masca being known as
the 'forgotten village'.

Masca is the most beautiful village on Tenerife

the rocky mountainside on which it is built. As
well as the deep ravines and dramatic views the surrounding

Teide
The 1704 Eruption:
One of the most notable eruptions of Mount Teide occurred in 1704, leaving a
lasting impact on the island's history. This eruption, known as the "Eruption of
Santa Catalina," lasted for three weeks and produced extensive lava flows that threatened nearby settlements.
It is said that the red-hot lava flows reached the coast, leading to the formation
of the natural pools of Garachico, which remain a popular tourist attraction today.
The 1798 Eruption:
Another significant eruption occurred in 1798, known as the "Montaña Blanca eruption." This explosive event lasted for over three months and spewed a large volume of ash and pyroclastic material into the atmosphere.
The eruption column reached impressive heights, causing panic among the local population. The ash fallout from this eruption affected nearby islands and even reached as far as mainland Europe.
The Recent History of Eruptions:
Mount Teide last erupted in 1909 from the El Chinyero vent on the Santiago Ridge, with lower intensity compared to its historical ones. Although this eruption had lava flows and ash emissions it was relatively small and did not cause
significant damage or pose a threat to human settlements.

Flamenco is an art form based on the
various folkloric music traditions of
southern Spain, developed within the gitano subculture of the region of
Andalusia, and also having historical
presence in Extremadura and Murcia.
In a wider sense, the term is used to
refer to a variety of both contemporary
and traditional musical styles typical of
southern Spain. Flamenco is closely
associated to the gitanos of the Romani ethnicity who have
contributed significantly to its
origination and professionalization.
However, its style is uniquely Andalusian
and flamenco artists have historically
included Spaniards of both gitano and
non-gitano heritage.

Powered paragliding, also known as paramotoring or PPG, is a form of ultralight aviation where the pilot wears a back-pack motor (a paramotor) which provides enough thrust to take off using a paraglider. It can be launched in still air, and on level ground, by the pilot alone—no assistance is required.
